A good session breaks a pattern for a day. The energy is different. Decisions get made. People say things they haven't said in months. And then the team returns to their desks, the calendar fills up again, and six weeks later the same dynamic is back.
That is not a failure. It is a sign that the pattern runs deeper than a single session can reach. Team coaching is what happens when a team decides to address the pattern itself — not just its most recent symptom.
Team coaching is an ongoing engagement — typically three to six months — in which a coach works with the team as a system. Not with individuals one by one, but with the team as a whole: how it communicates, how it makes decisions, how it handles conflict, what it avoids, and what it keeps repeating.
A team coach is not a consultant. We do not arrive with answers to your problems. We help the team see what it cannot see from the inside — the patterns, the unspoken rules, the dynamics that shape every meeting even when nobody names them.
We will tell you if coaching is not the right fit. Sometimes a well-facilitated series of sessions or a team retrospective is what you actually need. We would rather say that than start an engagement that will not deliver.

A team coaching engagement typically runs three to six months. The pace is determined by the team's rhythm, not a fixed schedule.
We start by understanding the team's history, composition, and the challenge it is facing. This usually involves conversations with the team leader and a session where we meet the full team. We are explicit about how coaching works, what it is not, and what the team will need to bring to it.
Where possible, we observe the team working — a real meeting, not a performance. What we see in an hour of normal operation tells us more than an hour of interviews. We then contract with the team: what we will work on, how we will know if it is working, and what each party commits to.
Sessions run every two to four weeks. Each one starts from what has happened since the last session — not from a prepared agenda. We use structured reflection, direct feedback, and specific practices the team experiments with between sessions.
The goal is that the team no longer needs us. We close the engagement with a review of what changed, what is still in progress, and what the team will need to sustain the work on its own.
We coach in English, Dutch, and French. For multicultural teams, the ability to work in multiple languages is not a convenience — it changes what is possible in a session. German is available through a partner facilitator in our network.
A leadership team of seven had been operating for two years without a clear decision-making structure. Decisions were reached by whoever stayed in the room longest. Accountability for outcomes was diffuse. Nobody was responsible; therefore nothing was anyone's fault.
Over four months of coaching sessions, the team developed explicit agreements about who decides what and how. The shift was not in the structure itself — it was in the team's willingness to name what had been unnamed. By the end, meetings were shorter, follow-through was higher, and a tension that had been running for 18 months had been addressed directly for the first time.
A team of twelve people from four departments described themselves as "working well together." The output data suggested otherwise: timelines slipped at every handover point, decisions required escalation, and two members had stopped attending optional meetings.
The real issue was not conflict but avoidance — a norm of politeness that prevented any difficult thing from being said directly. Team coaching gave the team a language and a container for the conversations that had been avoided. The handover slippage reduced by the third month. The two members came back to the meetings.
Tell us what you are seeing. We will listen, ask a few questions, and tell you honestly whether team coaching is likely to help — and what kind of engagement would fit.
